AV - Intermittent Motion Vertical Cartoner for Manual or Automatic Feeding

The vertical intermittent motion AV cartoner has been designed by CAM offering the user an extremely compact and versatile machine available with short lead time at a reasonable price, which is capable of guaranteeing high performance linked to its simplicity of use and maintenance.

Carton pick-off and erection carried-out by means of a mobile blade which inserts into the carton pre-opening it before completely erecting and inserting it between the transfer lugs, allows low grammage board to be used even when handling square-section formats or cartons with glueing and creasing imperfections. The ample space available in the product feeding area, allows for more than one operator to be employed if the machine is to be used for manual feeding. The cantilevered transfer of cartons into the product introduction area, guarantees ideal location of the operators in addition to allowing cleaning to be carried-out with ease.

The vertical introduction of products makes the AV machine particularly suitable for handling cartons into which horizontal positioning would create problems in guaranteeing the final required configuration inside the carton, or would alter the final presentation.

CAM has developed a complete range of automatic product feeding systems responding to any packaging requirement, which can also be installed onto supplied machines.

PMM - Intermittent Motion Horizontal Cartoner

What has allowed the PMM intermittent motion horizontal cartoner to become a significant reference in the packaging sector owes to having maintained the technical solutions which have made CAM cartoners the choice of thousands of end users worldwide, for their reliability and flexibility, without overlooking project updating in requirements.

Carton erection, carried-out by means of an articulated twin blade inserted into the carton ensuring positive pre-breaking, allows low grammage board to be used even when handling square-section formats or carton with glueing and creasing imperfections. Perfect product introduction (even for products with irregular shape/dimensions) is guaranteed by the insertion of the moveable mouthpiece inside the carton, avoiding any uncontrolled passage of product from bucket to carton. Products are also prevented from straying out of the carton by the action of the spring loaded guides which automatically close during the return stroke of the pusher. The use of closed profile cams with surface hardening treatment, guarantees the reliability of all positive driven movements during the course of time.

Particular attention has been given to machine cleaning below the carton transport area, where possible product or packaging material residue is conveyed to easily accessible collection areas. ThePMM cartoner can be equipped with a complete range of product feeding systems and additional units, such as: coders, leaflet and booklet feeders, detection and reject devices, etc.. As on all CAMmachinery, the PMM is also equipped with the Mechanical Memory® system, transforming complete size change-over into a series of rapid and pre-set operations, which can be carried-out by unskilled personnel allowing production to be resumed immediately without the need for fine-tuning adjustments.

PMX - High Speed Intermittent Motion Cartoner

The PMX cartoner is characterised by an extremely compact layout so that it can be easily integrated in any production site as small as it may be.

Exclusive, continuous motion erection system This operation is carried out by a two-station rotary turret, each station driven by closed profile cams, allowing product pick-up starting from the magazine at “0” speed. This system favours a total and progressive pre-breakage of the cartons.

Each erection station is composed of two suction-cup arms that, by pulling the two adjacent faces of the cartons, ensure a positive opening regardless of the grammage and quality of the cardboard used, and even in case of square cartons.

Continuous motion, new generation closure system
This closure system is composed of a rotary system, simple and fast to remove when the format changes. A line operator can replace it. No adjustment is required. The quality repetitiveness of the final pack is guaranteed.

PVX - High Speed Intermittent Motion Horizontal Cartoner

Conceived balcony style, this new horizontal, intermittent motion cartoner makes it possible to achieve speed rates ranging from 100 to 200 strokes/minute.

The newly born PVX cartoner is characterised by an extremely compact layout so that it can be easily integrated in any production site as small as it may be.

HV - High Speed Continuous Motion Horizontal Cartoner

The operator side of the HV is perfectly linear and accessible, allowing carton magazine loading to be carried-out with convenience and with large carton storage capacity. This feature also gives the operator full vision and total control of all the functions carried-out on the machine. The cantilever structure, separating the mechanical transmission from the product/carton handling areas, guarantees total accessibility for machine inspection purposes and immediate elimination of product/packaging material residue, in compliance with GMP norms.

The exclusive carton erection system incorporating a continuous motion 5-station turret, each station separately driven by closed-profile cams for carton pick-off at zero speed, allows for total and progressive carton pre-breaking to be carried-out in a time period longer than the machine cycle. Each carton erection station is composed of two suction-cup arms which, by pulling externally on the two adjacent faces of the carton, guarantee positive opening, whatever board grammage is used and even in the case of handling square-section formats.

The product transport buckets, moving following a cam profile are inserted into the cartons, allowing perfect introduction even when handling products with irregular shape/dimensions.

The possibility to adopt pusher upper blades with differentiated stroke, enables perfect introduction of leaflets/booklets and other similar items into the carton, independently from the characteristics of the product to be handled.

The wide range of product feeders available covers all possible packaging requirements of the Pharmaceutical, Cosmetic and Food Industries.

CAM has recently developed and patented a new carton closure system, that grants the possibility of: carrying out format change without requiring the services of a specialized technician; eliminating fine tuning time related to the closure area; and absolute quality consistency of the final package.

As on all CAM machinery, the HV is also equipped with the Mechanical Memory® system, transforming complete size change-over into a series of rapid and pre-set operations, which can be carried-out by unskilled personnel in less than 10 minutes, eliminating the need for fine-tuning adjustments and allowing size change-over to coincide with actual production change-over.

K0 - High Speed Continuous Motion Horizontal Cartoner

The cartoning machine model K0 is designed to guarantee a production speed up to 800 cartons per minute. The cantilever structure and the separation of the mechanical section from the packaging area, make the cleaning and inspection of the machine upon batch change-over easier.

The patented carton erection system incorporates a continuous motion 5 station turret allowing total and progressive carton pre-breaking to be carried-out in a span of time longer than the machine cycle.

Each carton erection station is composed of two suction-cup arms which, by pulling externally on the two adjacent faces on the carton, guarantee a positive opening of the cartons even of low grammage and square section.

The patented system for product transfer is motorised by two crown gears coaxial with the centre drum, on which the carton transfer system and the gripper unit are integrally assembled in order to ensure a perfect alignment of pusher-product (bucket)-carton.

During the introduction phase, the full control of the product introduction is guaranteed by the simultaneous approach of the bucket to the carton. A patented closure system makes it possible for the cartons to be closed tuck-in style at high rate of speed.

As all CAM machines, also the model K0 is equipped with the patented system for format change-over Mechanical Memory®, allowing even unskilled personnel to carry-out the format change-over operations safely and quickly.
